Amphetamine is built for control over when a Mac sleeps. Orson starts with a work schedule and selected apps, then aims to help you review the time you spent on client work.
Orson's timeline and reports are in development. Its signed download and checkout are not available yet.
When Amphetamine fits
The Mac App Store listing describes timed wake sessions, app- and device-based triggers, and optional cursor movement. It is free. Those controls make sense when sleep prevention itself is the task.
Orson is not trying to replace Amphetamine's range of wake triggers.
When Orson fits
Orson already has a working-hours schedule, a visible enabled state, and a picker for the apps you use at work. Its local input and display-awake controls run within that schedule.
The planned launch version adds separately consented local activity review, project timers, and timesheet exports. Keeping a display awake does not establish billable time or guarantee a third-party presence indicator.
Which one fits?
Choose Amphetamine if you need flexible, free wake sessions and triggers today.
Follow Orson if you want to set up a recurring Mac workday and later review and report client time in the same app.
