Orson and Timing.
Timing is an established Mac time tracker. Orson's time review is still being built. If a working automatic timeline is what you need today, that difference matters.
Orson does not yet ship its timeline, review screen, reports, signed download, or checkout.
What Timing already offers
Timing records app, document, and website activity, then helps you assign it to projects, review time, and produce reports. It also has timers. Its plans page describes a subscription and a 30-day trial.
Timing says tracking data stays on the Mac unless you enable sync. It deserves credit for local-first tracking; that is not unique to Orson.
What Orson is building
Orson already provides scheduled work-app launching and visible local awake/activity controls. Its planned time record is opt-in, encrypted on your Mac, and separate from those controls.
Before export, you will be able to correct entries, assign clients and projects, and review breaks and billable totals. Screenshots and on-device OCR will need another consent. None of that time-review UI is ready to use yet.
Which one fits?
Choose Timing if you need automatic Mac tracking, project assignment, and reports now.
Follow Orson if you want to see whether its combined workday setup and later contractor review fit the way you work.
